Energy efficiency retrofitted no 22 kindergarten has reopened
Today, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, together with the EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos, Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and the E5P donors inaugurated the newly renovated kindergarten No. 22 in Yerevan.
"This kindergarten is not just a building; it is a symbol of our commitment to education and the well-being of Armenian children. The enhancements made here, from improved energy efficiency to safer and more comfortable learning spaces, are investments in the future leaders of the country,” said the UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia in her opening remarks.
This newly retrofitted kindergarten is a result of collaboration of the Yerevan Municipality with the European Investment Bank, E5P donors and the UNDP-GCF project. Thanks to it this facility will now provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for 230 children annually.
This support is part of the UNDP-GCF project "De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits" which, in addition, has already invested over $9 mln into strengthening energy efficiency across Armenia. As a result, we have retrofitted 52 public buildings, 152 multiapartment buildings, benefitting more than 40,000 people and reducing CO2 emissions annually by 21,000 tons.
